Episode #48: Sketching From The Heart
Hi there! It’s Charlie O’Shields, back with another episode of Sketching Stuff! I hope you’re staying safe, happy, and healthy. Sending you a big virtual hug and heaps of hope for the future. As so many of us find ourselves at home these days and far from our normal routines, it’s always good to take a moment to think about those littlest moments that provide so much cheer. This is why I’ve always loved sketching everyday things. They’re made far more magical when they come to life in a watercolor sketch. But, these ordinary things are a beautiful constant in everyone’s life. They’re the little reminders that life still has so much hope and happiness to offer.
And no matter what creative endeavor you love most, when you make things, and make them from the heart, those things can spread joy around the whole world. So, I hope you’re finding extra time to create and to dream these days. We should never ever stop doing those two things, as they’re the building blocks of a lovely life. Even when travel was possible, I wasn’t an avid traveler and spent much of my time at home, even then. And now, along with much of the world I find myself having to stay home all of the time. Sure, there are things I miss out there, but most days there’s no place I’d rather be than home with my little family, enjoying a small moment each and every day spent sketching from the heart.
I’m grinning at the vision of little Charlie bowing on the stage with his crown in hand and I can see why your Mom remembers it so fondly. Thank you for another enjoyable listen over my morning coffee.
