I write and sketch with watercolor each and every day on Doodlewash.com, collecting bits of life and stories that pop into my head along the way. Today’s episode is all about another art form that is near and dear to my heart. Music. Music has an incredible way of stirring emotion and bringing back all sorts of memories. These are some of mine, that I hope, in the end, will also inspire lovely memories of your own. So join me now as we embark on a musical journey together and experience some of those wonderful stories that happen, when the music plays.

  1. I suspect the world lost a fine guitarist because of your accident. Your love of the arts shines through this whole podcast. I enjoyed reading these, but it’s even more fun to hear you reading them!

    1. Thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 I have no idea if I would have been a world famous guitarist, but it was definitely fun to play. And I’m thrilled you’re enjoying the audio versions of my posts. Seemed like a good way to keep the old ones alive.

  2. Your stories are wonderful an take me on a journey of your life and see each piece of art you’ve created brings it all to life. I enjoy just listening to your stories at night because they are comforting, making me venture back in time of my own childhood. Continue drawing an your pod cast days for they are very inspiring especially when I have thinking block. I’ve created a board in Trello Titled – Charlie’s Days an here I save your Episode collection even if I only have 4 I’m sure there will be more. This way I can pick any one an enjoy my day . Have a beautiful week.

    1. Thank you so much Joan for that wonderful comment! 😃💕 I truly appreciate it! It’s quite an experiment for me to even appear on audio, much less attempt to produce a podcast. I’m so happy you enjoy them! It’s very motivating to keep making them, so yes, definitely look for me in the future!

  3. You have a great talent for writing and story telling on top of your painting and sketching wonderful abilities, have you ever thought about writing a book? Or even children books, you can combine all your talents in them and I’m sure they will quickly become best sellers, you have a great mind .

    1. Thanks so much, Amal! 😃💕What a lovely compliment! I am planning on writing a book of some kind. Probably something like a children’s book for adults. hehe

  4. i love music my self I started training as a music teacher .But when I needed to go for the exam I would fall apart . So in is wisdom he world not tell me until I got to the venue. Which to my delight it worked .I started a new job time was short I was working in the pottery training I became a master potter with a chance to make some beautiful work .Live changes and the company closed . The music would come on I was transported back to guitar and piano my art demon took over I stayed with my art and been a fund raiser for the hospital .love the pod talk Charlie Keep them coming

    1. Thanks, Les! Thrilled you enjoyed this! 😃💕 And I loved your story! That art demon will chase you to the ends of the earth once it’s unleashed. And yay for that!!

  5. Another great story Charlie. I also like the way you added your doodles on the Sketching Stuff headline. Were these your first doodles on podcast 1, then working your way up? They are all excellent….1140!! That’s a lot of doodleing!!! Sorry about the accident and the quitar but happy you are here to share all your talent. I do think you are a candidate for Ripley’s!!! 😊

    1. Thanks, June! 😃💕 Thrilled you enjoyed this episode. And Ripley’s eh? Wow! That would be cool! The doodlewashes in the show art are pulled from the stories that were previously posted here. The first few episodes were all from my first few months of sketching. This one pulls from some more recent ones as well.

    1. Thank you SO much, Celia! 😃💕 I’m thrilled you enjoyed it! A totally new adventure for me. (I’m not sure if you’re on iTunes, but if you could leave a positive review there, that would be most helpful! I’m rubbish at promoting myself, preferring to promote others… hehe… but recently learned that you’re supposed to ask😊).

  6. Love the podcasts! The music, the narrative, the content…all so professionally done while remaining personal and relatable. NPR should create a space to feature these 🙂

    1. Aww that’s so awesome of you to say, Erin!! 😃💕 Thank you SO much! I’m thrilled you’re enjoying them! And thanks the for the “professional” bit… hehe… I honestly have no idea what I’m doing, but it’s certainly fun to try! Not sure if you’re on iTunes, but if so, a rating and review there would be awesome! 😊

  7. I think my primary purpose for living is to perpetuate the printed book. While I enjoy the convenience of digital,
it is the old and worn leather bound book that connect with soul to soul, so when I read that you were doing
podcasts I was a bit torn. Since I don’t have ITunes on any of my devices, I was able to push the issue to the
back of my mind until I read your VW Bus post and there it was…notice of your podcast. I couldn’t ignore it, so
I clicked the link and landed here. Having listened to ‘the music’ (twice already) I feel terrible for enjoying it without
giving it a rating. It gets a tops ++. It is great to listen to your reading. You have a wonderful voice and the material
is grand. I may at some point download the iTunes app. That will have to wait until I have more screen time, but I
see it in my future. Thanks for finding new ways to make life better.

    1. Wow… what a lovely compliment! Thank you so much, Sarah! 😃💕 I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the podcast. I totally agree about books, though… still the best thing in the world! But I figured my stories might be interesting in a totally different form. Glad you thought they were! I’m hoping to use the podcast actually to help me organize and curate posts I would put into a book at some point. The issue I always face is that I need a color book.. hehe… and those still aren’t very affordable. 😊Also, if you download the Radio Public app and listen there, they actually pay their podcasters a little something for listens – https://radiopublic.com/sketching-stuff-Wxymx3

  8. Hi Charlie. Where can I view episodes 1, 2 and 3? Don’t see those on the page. Looking forward to watching. I want to start sketching…

    1. Hi there Claire! 🙂 Thanks for letting me know… the “Load More” button wasn’t showing up, but it’s fixed now so you can click that to get to the first three. Just a note that these are audio podcasts based on my posts so they are meant to inspire creativity, but not always specific to sketching! 😉 As you know! hehe Also, they can be listened to in any order whatsoever if you like. And if you’d like one that’s more specific to sketching and forming a daily art habit, then be sure to check out Episode #10! Hope you enjoy!
