Once upon a time, I spent the entire month of November exploring the various National and World Days that happened each day of that month. I love these fun celebrations and they were ultimately what gave me the idea to found World Watercolor Month in July. So join me now for a little collection of stories I call, Days To Celebrate…

  1. I really enjoyed listening to your first podcast. Hearing your voice, your thoughts, along with the added background clips, made the podcast fun and interesting. Looking forward to the next one!!!

    1. Aww brilliant! Thanks, June! 😃💕 That makes me so happy to hear! I honestly have never mixed audio before and have no idea what I’m doing, so that makes me SO happy to know you enjoyed it!!

        1. Aww that makes me happy to hear! 😃💕 It’s not really an “art” podcast at all but one I hope can be enjoying by everyone. So happy to hear she liked it!

  2. I have enjoyed this episode of ‘Days to Celebrate!’ and I’m looking forward to more. You have a great voice and fantastic delivery that made the podcast a joy!

    1. Aww thanks so much, Sandra!! 😃💕 That means SO much to me. This was quite a big deal for me to even try, since I’m terrified of video. hehe And I can’t believe it took me 3 years to show up and say hi… in a way at least. Hope you’ll enjoy the next installment coming in a couple weeks!

      1. I can understand – I am as well, and I’ve been making myself do videos. I don’t have nearly the delivery that you do, though, so I think I’ll be using text-overs.

        1. Yeah, videos are just a bit terrifying for me… mostly because you can’t do them in your pajamas. Well… I guess one could, but it would depend on what you sleep in as to whether it would be considered okay. 😉

    1. Jessica, I couldn’t have said it better, thanx for giving me the words and thanks to you Charlie. another 3 years will fly by before you know it. Can’t wait to see the fill the passing years along with you. ( you too Jessica!)

    2. Aww thanks, Jessica! 😃💕I can’t believe after all this time, it’s the first time you’ve heard my voice and now I realize I’ve never heard yours!! Oh the power of social media… and the problem… would love to meet up someday in person!

    1. Aww thanks, Sharon… that made me blush! 😊 Like most people my voice sounds totally different than it does in my head. Like when you set you away message on a phone. hehe

  3. OMG, in retrospect I’m so happy to know I spent many Saturday nights with you, The Love Boat, Tatoo, and Ricardo Montelbaum, all the while strangling a sibling or two whilst having a private conversation on the long curly phone cord and hiding in the bathroom!! Is it any wonder my hubby is prematurely gray and takes me to magical places? Love your podcast, dear Charlie! 😘💖😁

    1. Yay! I’m so thrilled you enjoyed it Carol! 😃💕 That makes me so happy! hehe… yeah… those were definitely the days and it’s so much fun to go back and remember them!

    1. Wow! What a wonderful compliment! Thanks, Kathy! 😃💕 Dulcet tones? That’s such a nice compliment! Hope you’ll enjoy the next episodes as much!

      1. I’m sure I will. I remember when there wasn’t such a thing as television. Lying on my tummy, I propped my chin with my palms, elbows on the livingroom rug, listening to animated voices. I could IMAGINE the unfolding scenarios in my mind. No need to reply; just wanted to add that! 😉

    1. You’re making me blush! 😊And smile really big! I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the podcast. It was a bit of an experiment on my part and i wasn’t sure what people might think. Thanks so much, Mary! 😃💕

    1. Thanks so much, Anabelle! 😃💕 hehe.. yeah… I always have a new crazy idea waiting in the wings. I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the podcast!

  4. Loving this already Charlie! ❤️ You’re so real and personable – what’s not to appreciate and enjoy the very and varied bits of you. 😘 I look forward to more and more! 👏🏻❣️👏🏻

One thought to consider – reduce the music volume as its competing with your voice rather than supporting it. I have an odd hearing issue where all audio fuses incoming and I cannot separate the sounds. It makes it difficult to hear voices.

    1. Thanks so much, Yvonne! 😃💕 Glad you enjoyed this and thanks for the tip. I use a program that levels sound and I think I need to tweak the background a bit. I’ll try to make it less present in the next edition!

    2. I actually tried an edit on this version, so hopefully the sound levels are a bit better! Have a listen and see if that’s better when you can. I truly have no idea how to mix sound… still figuring it all out! 😊

      1. Yes!!! It’s perfect for me! Thank you, Charlie! 😍❣️😘 I’m actually thinking it could go a wee notch higher without issue. Try it and see? I look forward to your next podcast and truly think it needs to go worldwide – it’s THAT good! YOU are that good! 👏🏻❤️👏🏻

        1. Thanks so much, Yvonne! 😃💕 hehe… yeah, this sound mixing thing is a bigger challenge than watercolor! lol But it’s a fun challenge. Appreciate the feedback!

  5. Charlie,

About that “dotting the I and crossing the T” All excellent writers have editors to worry about those mundane things.
You are a fine writer. I look forward to your every post, and as for the podcast…You have a beautifully modulated
and a super pleasant voice. Much enjoyed. (Don’t quit doing your written posts, though, please! I am one of those
people with a brain that processes the written word better than the spoken.) Your podcast proves to me that
    whatever you try, you master.

    Sarah

    1. Aww you’re so sweet! Thanks so much for the encouragement, Sarah! 😃💕 And yes, the podcast will simply be pulled from writings… that’s still how I think best, so I’ll be continuing to write and perhaps one day that writing will get the podcast treatment. 😉

  6. This is wonderful, Charlie!!! Yet one more wonderful from the fantastic mind of Little Charlie. ( :

    1. Thanks so much, Ellie! 😃💕I’m so thrilled you enjoyed it! It was a little daunting putting myself out there after 3 years of never appearing on audio or video. So happy you liked it!

  7. Charlie, what a fun podcast! I’m really not a big fan of podcast but I loved listening to yours! And I laughed so hard when you described the curly cords! Loved hearing your voice! I can’t wait for the next one!!

    1. Aww thanks, Kari! 😃💕I’m so thrilled you enjoy it! Another little new adventure I’m setting out on! hehe… thought it was fun way to mix things up!

    1. Thanks so much, Tom! 😃💕 I’m so happy you enjoyed this! I hoped people would like it… it’s my first “appearance” outside of painting and writing.😊(I’m a bit shy so video was way too scary! hehe)

      1. @Charlie … Well what I’m hoping for is a sketch demo and painting. You don’t need to be in it … well beside your hands. lol. So get yourself a phone holder mount to shoot down on the painting and go to town! Pretty please Charlie. I have always wanted to see your process. So it’s either a video or I invite myself for a weekend getaway at your place so I can watch in person!

        1. hehe! Philippe had a brand new camera from work and stood over me one day with it while I was painting. I immediately stopped and couldn’t move. Soooo… maybe one day I’ll get over that, but in the meantime, you’ll welcome to come over! 😉 😃💕

  8. Charlie O… your podcast was like listening to the voice of a familiar friend. I drank in every pun like apple cider, smooth and tangy. I work with disabled adults in an Adult Day Care setting and those “special days” make for great activity planning. If you don’t mind I would like to playback your pod cast for “Cliche Day” this coming November. I will have the participants and staff count every cliche they hear and offer a prize to the closest guess. Keep up the good work!

    1. Aww that’s such a wonderful comment to receive! 😃💕 Thank you so much! I’m thrilled you enjoyed this! And yes, by all means, please do so…. that sounds awesome! Keep me posted on how it turns out!

  9. Great podcast an enjoying your storytelling and listening to you. Your art is great an your happy picture matches your happy voice. Keep up your fun enjoyable stories.

    1. Aww thanks so much, Joan! 😃💕 That made me smile! I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the podcast!! It’s a bit of an experiment for me. So it makes me happy to know you enjoyed it!

  10. I’m so happy you made the move to podcasts, so entertaining! You have a great voice and talk just like you write!
I never do podcasts but you made me a believer now. Too fun to miss.

    1. Aww!! That’s SO awesome to hear, Teri! Yay! 🙂 💕 I’m so thrilled you enjoyed this! Yeah, I’ve totally mentioned on my blog that I write like I talk, so now I can finally prove it! LOL Hope you’ll stick around and listen to the future episodes!

  11. Everyone found something funny in this first podcast, Charlie! I enjoyed all the aspects too. What struck me funny is the last segment on American portions, measuring system, and flags! As a former European, I always notice this. I try to teach my child metric, as measuring distance by somebody’s feet is not too accurate!

    1. Aww yay! I’m so thrilled you enjoyed this, Iryna! 😃💕Hope you enjoy the others as well (a new one launches next week!). SO agree… measuring in feet still seems weird and I never grew up in Europe. Metric just makes so much more sense! My French is still horrible, but I can now speak in metric! 😉 hehe

I will for give you for the English bit as well we have many double meanings so see you I’oth and take care

    1. hehe… thanks, Les! 😃💕 Glad you enjoyed this! Yes, English is more than one language indeed. I like the idea of not wasting your day…. it’s certainly sage advice. Your dad sounds wonderful!

    1. Aww yay!! I’m so thrilled you enjoyed it!! Thank you SO much my friend for the feedback! 😃💕 This is my first time attempting a podcast, so I’m so happy to know you liked what came out! (if you are on iTunes and could leave a positive review there, that would be awesome! I’m just learning that you’re supposed to ask for such things… hehe… 😊)

    1. Aww thanks, Debra!! 😃💕 So thrilled you enjoyed this! I was hoping these would be a nice little addition in the background for painting. yay!

  13. Just listened to this episode because I have become a fan of doodlewash and really loved it. Inspiring, interesting and funny and I learned about strange celebration days just as I continue to learn when looking for an idea to draw for the doodle wash prompts. I am looking forward to listening to the others.

    1. Thanks so much, Claudia! 😃💕 So happy you enjoyed this! It was my first one, so I think I got a bit better over time… but it’s always just me showing up to share stories. hehe

  14. Well Charlie, I’ve worked my way backwards from episode 50 and I’m disappointed … that there aren’t more amazing podcasts to listen to once I catch up on the recent ones. haha Every one has been a trip down memory lane! Thank you for the laughs and the lovely doodles washes. You have such a wide array of experiences and I can’t wait until we can travel safely again to create more memories. Cheers!

    1. Aww thanks so much, Robin! 😃💕 I’m so thrilled you’re enjoying these! I actually never thought I’d pass 60 episodes when I started. It makes me so happy to know you’re enjoying them all!!
