When I first started sketching and blogging, I devoted an entire month to collecting bits of things that I referred to as my cabinet of curiosities. For those of you who don’t know what this particular type of cabinet is, according to author Patrick Mauriès, they were “rooms of wonders… the astonishing creation of collectors who wished to gather together everything, all knowledge – animal, vegetable, or man-made – into a single unimaginable space. An entire universe in miniature.” Cool, huh? The unimaginable space, in my case, was simply a new miniature sketchbook. So, join me now for a little collection of stories those tiny sketches inspired.

  1. Another great podcast! I’ve always loved reading your rambles, but listening to you read them makes them even more enjoyable. More! More!

    1. Thanks so much, Sandra! 😃💕 I totally appreciate you commenting. This has been a fun new addition and I hope it’s entertaining!

  2. That was fun! I especially loved the mother on the telephone story. And the naked cat! You said you are interested in constructive comments, so here is mine. You are funny enough to skip the little voice over comments. They used to tell me to trust my audience and not explain the jokes I was telling. That’s good advice. So this is your sophomore effort and you are doing such a good job. Your production is great. It doesn’t sound like you’re locked in your basement with a jury-rigged tape recorder with your mother pounding on the door, yelling, what are you doing down there?😂😂😂😂

    1. Thanks, Lisa! 😃💕 Yeah, I totally agree… I think I’ll still to a few sound effects for the middle and leave the others voices to before or after I’m talking. I think they were more successful in the first outing. And glad you enjoyed the production! hehe… would be funny to have a clip of my mother pounding on the door though!! LOL 😂

    1. Aww yay! That makes me so happy to hear! It’s totally a new experiment for me. So thrilled you enjoyed it, Ellie! 😃💕

  3. Awesome storytelling an your better than reading the comic section in the newspaper even better than video’s on Facebook. Listening to you brings a smile and afew chuckles. Poor fluffy , guess he got his 15 minutes of fame. 🤣👀. Can’t wait for your next adventures.

    1. That’s the sweetest comment ever!! Thanks, Joan! 😃💕 hehe.. yeah, Fluffy did at least get his 15 minutes of fame… probably more if you consider all the library recasts of that wonderful bit of cinema! lol Thrilled you’re enjoying the podcast!

    1. Aww thanks so much, Fantine! 😃💕 I’m so thrilled you enjoyed this! And yes, my mother is amazing! hehe… She also doesn’t have internet so has no clue what I’m saying about her. Sometimes, I’ve read my posts to her over the phone though! hehe

    1. Aww thanks so much, Mary! 😃💕 That makes so incredibly happy to hear! I’ve never once appeared on video and thought sharing my stories via audio might be a great way to start. I wasn’t sure what people would think, so it makes me happy to know you enjoyed it!

  4. Charlie, it felt like listening to an old friend over the cup of tea! Funny, I do prefer dogs as well, though growing up we always had cats. You made me laugh – the Sphinx cat! I am sure I’d have the same reaction! And I love birds. I had only a cockatiel and a parakeet. I got my blue baby parakeet so small, he wasn’t be able to perch yet and I fed him cooked grains, talking to him all the time. He grew up and became quite a talker! My gray cockatiel was able to learn a few phrases and lots of tunes. It is a hard work to teach them talk, but possible.

    1. Aww thanks, Iryna! 😃💕 I’m so thrilled you enjoyed this episode! Yeah, I still have an occasional nightmare of that cat… lol… but So cool you had a parakeet! I’ve always wanted one! I think talking birds are the coolest!

  5. Hi Charlie. I’ve known about doodlwash, watercolour month and your daily sketches for a while, but for some reason only discovered your podcast today. You are a really really good storyteller! Thank you for making these…

    1. Aww yay! I”m so thrilled to hear that, Elizabeth! 😃💕Thrilled you enjoyed my podcast. Hope you’ll keep listening to the others! It was fun to give my stories a second life via audio.
